Michael McKinney
Michael McKinney has dedicated more than two decades of his life to serving others through military service, emergency medicine, and professional medical training.
Michael began his military career in 1998 when he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman until 2007. During his Navy career, he deployed three times in support of the Marine Corps, serving in Iraq in 2003, 2005, and 2006. These experiences placed him in some of the most demanding medical environments imaginable and helped shape his commitment to providing lifesaving care when it matters most.
While serving in the Navy, Michael trained as a Surgical Technologist. After leaving active-duty service in 2007, he continued his military career by joining the Army National Guard as a Medic. He served with the Guard from 2007 through 2018 and deployed to Afghanistan from 2009–2010 in support of combat operations.
Michael's medical career continued to grow after his military service. In 2018, he became a Surgical First Assistant, allowing him to further expand his experience in the operating room. He worked at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville from 2018 to 2019 and then at AdventHealth Ocala from 2019 through 2023.
After retiring from his medical career in 2023, Michael began looking for a new way to continue serving his community. In 2024, he started Devil Doc Gun Works with the goal of building a custom firearms business. Although that business did not develop as originally planned, it became the starting point for what would eventually become a new chapter in his career.
In January 2025, Michael began teaching CPR and first aid. What started as a new opportunity quickly grew into a passion and a mission. Today, Devil Doc CPR operates from its office at **10306 SE US Hwy 441 in Belleview, Florida**, providing CPR, AED, BLS, First Aid, and other lifesaving training.
Through Devil Doc CPR, Michael and his team have trained more than **1,000 students** with one simple goal: to give ordinary people the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR and provide lifesaving care when it matters most.
For Michael, teaching CPR is more than simply teaching a certification course. It is a continuation of the mission he has followed throughout his life — preparing people to respond when someone else needs help.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Lara. Together, they have four children, all now grown, and they recently welcomed their first grandchild. After decades spent serving his country and working in healthcare, Michael considers his family, his students, and his community the most important parts of the next chapter of his life.
