The required training to become a Tennessee armed security officer – law, use of force, firearm safety and live-fire qualification.
About this training
Classroom instruction covers Tennessee security law, the legal authority of an armed guard, use-of-force and deadly-force limits, criminal and civil liability, firearm safety, safe carry and storage, and professional conduct with the public, clients and law enforcement.
On the range you practice marksmanship and weapon handling and complete the state-approved qualification course (70% or higher).
Eligibility: 21 or older, a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, legally allowed to possess a firearm, fingerprints for a TBI/FBI background check and a passport-style photo. Certain felony, violent, weapon, drug, theft or domestic-violence convictions disqualify applicants – ask us if you're unsure.
