The state-certified 4-hour course required for your Tennessee unarmed security guard registration.
About this training
The 4-hour curriculum covers the four areas Tennessee Private Protective Services (PPS) requires:
- Orientation – professionalism, ethics and the role of private security
- Legal powers and limitations – authority on private property, citizen's arrest, civil and criminal liability
- Emergency procedures – fire prevention, first aid basics and evacuation
- General duties – patrol techniques, access control, report writing and public relations
Requirements: at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen or resident alien, good moral character and a fingerprint-based TBI/FBI background check. After the course you apply through the state CORE portal ($70 state fee) and can often begin working while your registration is processed.
